The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce recently helped the Santa Maria Business Development Center (SMBDC) celebrate their grand opening with a ribbon cutting.
The facility, located at 731 South Lincoln Street in Santa Maria, provides a variety of services and resources for local businesses to help launch and expand their business.
Founder and President of the SMDBC Anne Cremarosa says the center was started because Santa Maria did not have resources available for small businesses trying to be successful in the local community.
“We’re here to take the place of services we don’t have,” Cremarosa explained. “Those other kinds of services that other cities have – the SBDC, a local SCORE chapter – this is it.”
The facility has partnered with other local organizations like SCORE out of San Luis Obispo and Women’s Economic Ventures out of Santa Barbara to provide training and seminars. The SMBDC provides services for both non-profit and for-profit companies.
The new facility is double the size of their old space and includes 12 private offices, larger conference room spaces, a training facility and the atrium, an open courtyard space great for networking.
“We have a very rich mixture of membership here,” Cremarosa said. “We have a lot of different members that take advantage of our services so they bounce ideas off each other. The synergy here is pretty cool.”
Cremarosa encourages everyone to come check out the Santa Maria Business Development Center. You can learn more by calling (805) 623-8434 or visiting their website HERE. Watch the video below to learn more about the SMBDC’s new facility.
