Cuesta College Community Programs presents “An Afternoon Concert of Trumpet Music,” featuring the San Luis Obispo County Trumpet Alliance, on Sunday, October 23, 2016, at 2 pm. The concert will be a benefit fund-raising performance for the private lesson scholarship fund established by the San Luis Obispo County Trumpet Alliance. The concert will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Arroyo Grande at 275 Halcyon Road in Arroyo Grande.

Donations will be accepted at the door.

Formed in 2011, the Trumpet Alliance promotes the rehearsal and performance of trumpet chamber music. This advanced group is comprised of local musicians who are educators, business professionals and retirees. Admission to group is by invitation and/or audition. The group is directed by Dr. Warren Balfour and Lyle Stubson.

The Trumpet Alliance Scholarship Fund was established in 2014, and provides private lesson scholarships to deserving middle school and high school students from San Luis Obispo County who are recommended by school music directors.

Members of the Trumpet Alliance are: Jerry Boots, Bruce Knowlton, Lyle Stubson, Steve Vines, Rich Smucker, Jim Kerber, Joe Montgomery, Danny Beher, Ted Hamm , Steve Szabo, Jess Hostetter, Charlie Kim, David Johns, Robert Alberts, Stephanie Douglass, Mitch Latting, Don Lopez, Jim Rabourn and Taylor O’Hanlon.

Vaughn Kaser, Alice Tomasini and Tom Brown are in the Percussion section.

Music by the following composers will be performed: Leroy Anderson, James Olcott, John Phillip Sousa, David Marlatt, Bruce Chidester , Edward Hoffman, Alexander Goedicke, Ty Watson, John Williams, and David Hickman.
