The Santa Maria Public Library is pleased to show the movie The Jungle Book, which is rated PG. The film will be screened on Monday, January 9th at 5:30 p.m. in Shepard Hall. This event is free and no tickets are required.

Writer/director/actor Jon Favreau has adapted this beloved Disney animated classic as a combined animated/live action movie. After a threat from the villainous tiger Shere Khan (Idris Elba), man-cub Mowgli is forced to flee from the jungle to a “man village.” Mowgli embarks on a journey of self-discovery with the help of panther, Bagheera (Ben Kingsley), and free spirited bear, Baloo (Bill Murray), meeting a snake (Scarlett Johansson) and orangutan (Christopher Walken) along the journey.

Seating is limited and is offered on a first come, first served basis. Freshly popped popcorn will also be served free of charge.

The library’s hours are 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The library is closed on Sunday. The library is located at 421 S. McClelland Street.
