cal-poly-artsSan Luis Obispo, CALIFORNIA – On Sunday, January 29 at 7 p.m. in the Spanos Theatre, Cal Poly Arts and Festival Mozaic proudly present premier classical pianist CHRISTOPHER O’RILEY in a spectacular concert of Philip Glass’ Metamorphosis Two and J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations.

Acclaimed for his engaging and deeply-committed worldwide performances – with a repertoire spanning a kaleidoscopic array of music from the pre-Baroque to present day – O’Riley is also known to millions as the host of NPR’s popular “From the Top” radio show. Now in his 15th year on air, O’Riley introduces the next generation of classical music stars to almost a million listeners each week.

O’Riley also hosted the Emmy Award-winning television series, “From the Top,” at Carnegie Hall, and has collaborated with Yo-Yo Ma, Bobby McFerrin, Midori, Béla Fleck, Joshua Bell, Hilary Hahn, Sir James Galway, Michael Feinstein, and many more.

He has performed as a soloist with virtually all of the major American orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, National Symphony, and San Francisco Symphony.  He led the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields on a two-week tour of 10 American cities, performed in a series of concerts with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and toured throughout the United Kingdom with the Moscow Philharmonic.

“O’Riley played so delicately that he seemingly left no fingerprints on the keys, yet his melodies sung out with sweet clarity.” – The Washington Post

He has worked with such acclaimed conductors as Alan Gilbert, David Robertson, Leonard Slatkin, Neeme Järvi, Marin Alsop, Semyon Bychkov, Hugh Wolff, and many others.  In addition, O’Riley has performed recitals throughout North America, Europe, and Australia.

Student and adult tickets for the performance range from $32 – $65 and may be purchased in advance at the Cal Poly Ticket Office, Monday – Saturday, noon to 6 p.m., located on Grand Avenue on the Cal Poly campus; by phone at 805/756-4849; online at
