The City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department is hosting Ballet Hispánico from New York.  Youth, teens, adults and seniors are all invited to attend a free Latin Social Dance class which includes salsa, mambo, merengue, and bachata. The event will be held this Saturday, February 11th from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., at the Abel Maldonado Youth Community Center, 600 S. McClelland Street.

Latin Social Dance is derived mainly from Native Latin, African, and European influences, dating back to the 15th century.  Although many styles of dance from around the world are integrated into Latin Style Dances.

Ballet Hispánico explores, preserves, and celebrates Latino cultures through dance. Their mission unfolds in the work of the professional Company, the School of Dance, and the Education and Outreach programs. Together, these divisions celebrate the dynamic aesthetics of the Hispanic diaspora, building new avenues of cultural dialogue and sharing the joy of dance with all communities.
