We recently helped celebrate the building upgrades to The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Maria Valley Railroad Ave location (901 N Railroad Ave, Santa Maria) with a ribbon cutting!

The ribbon cutting was held to celebrate the organization’s completion of two major capital projects to their Railroad Club. One was to renovate the club’s gymnasium, and the other was to renovate the club’s kitchen. Extensive renovations have also been made to the exterior of the building

“This building have been through a complete transformation, inside and outside,” Said Jeremy Deming, Executive Officer of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Maria Valley. “It just looks completely different than it did a couple of years ago.”

the projects were funded thanks to grants through the City of Santa Maria, the Santa Barbara Foundation and in kind services and donations from the local community.

“It was so meaningful that we had all these people that were behind us in these efforts,” Deming said. “So we thought, this is essentially a new club,Let’s reintroduce this club to the community and say thank you to the local community for all their help and donations.”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Maria Valley is in it’s 51st year of operation. They serve 7,000 children every year at 10 club sites throughout the Santa Maria Valley – 7 clubs in Santa Maria and 3 in Guadelupe.

“We offer programing for youth in 5 core program areas – character and leadership development, health and life skills, education and career development, the arts, and sports, fitness and recreation,” Deming explained.

Deming said that the success the program has in serving community youth would not be possible without the valuable partnerships the organization has with other local businesses.

“We have collaborative partnerships with the local school districts, the housing authority, with organizations like the YMCA and PCPA theatre for programming for students,” Deming said. “Those collaborative partnerships are actually crucial to our ability to continue operations year to year. Because without that help and that extra hand, we would be limited in our capacity to fulfill the needs of the community.”

We are thrilled to have The Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Maria Valley as valued Chamber members, and excited to see the local community continue to support the efforts of this organization.
