The Santa Maria Women’s Network is pleased to announce the Women of Excellence award recipients for 2017. These women will be honored at our Women of Excellence annual dinner on March 2, 2017 at the Santa Maria Country Club.
This event honors women who impact in our community by exhibiting creativity, courage, generosity and service above self. The Santa Maria Women’s Network is a non‐profit business network committed to giving back to our community and its members. All our event proceeds go toward empowering young women and community scholarships.
2017 recipients are:
Lifetime Achievement: Marisol Cruz
In the 12 years Marisol has lived in our community, she has devoted herself to community
service. She has assumed leadership roles with the Noontime Kiwanis, NSBC United Way, the
Santa Barbara Foundation and contributes her time and talents to numerous other
organizations. She balances a busy banking career, most recently with Community Bank of Santa Maria, while raising her son as a single mom.
Women Taking Creative Risks: Deborah Blow
Deborah has only been in our community about 3 years but she joined our community with
enthusiasm! Superintendent of the Orcutt School District, she was instrumental in the passage
of Measure G, providing the funding needed to improve schools in the Orcutt School District.
Women of Spirit: Cristina Martins Sinco
Cristina retired from a long, successful career in nursing to care for her mother when she was
diagnosed with ovarian cancer. When her mother lost her courageous battle, Cristina directed
her passion for caring for others into founding The Teal Journey Foundation, focused on ovarian cancer education and support.
Women Helping Women: Clarrisa Nagy
Clarrisa is a whirlwind! Every aspect of her life is centered from helping other women and girls
succeed, and recognizing their potential for non‐traditional careers. As a local winemaker and
tasting room owner she enthusiastically supports other woman‐owned businesses in the
