BGCSMV is proud to announce the appointment of Sheila Kearns to serve as our 2017 – 2018 Chief Volunteer Officer. Sheila is a resident of Arroyo Grande where she lives with her husband Brian and her daughter Nicole. She works at HUB International as a Voluntary
Benefits Specialist. Sheila has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from San Diego State University. She is the recipient of an Addy, Aegis, and Telly Awards for her work developing a PSA for the American Red Cross. Her “Sign on Live on” youth donor outreach program was selected by USA Today as one of the Nation’s top 10 “Make a Difference Day” programs.
Sheila was a former Board Member for Good Samaritan Shelter, Central Coast Naifa Board and the Santa Maria HR Association Board. As a Board Member for BGCSMV, she chaired our Annual Great Futures Campaign for the last two years, raising over $413,000 in unrestricted donations. Sheila is also on our Annual Auction & Gala Committee and secured the event’s first $10,000 sponsor in its 36-year history.
Sheila is now serving as Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Maria Valley’s Chief Volunteer Officer. As CVO, Sheila will be responsible for leading the Board of Directors in raising operating revenues on a year-to-year basis. She will also ensure that the highest quality programs and services are available to the youth we serve.
Kearns stated, “Our key focus is currently our Great Futures Campaign. As an organization, both staff and volunteers are working diligently to raise and secure unrestricted funds to sustain our core programs and operating needs. We cannot continue the work we do without community support.
