Starting this Memorial Day Weekend and through Labor Day, locals and visitors can ride the new Santa Maria Valley Wine Trolley from downtown to wineries and back.
This is a joint partnership between the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce and the City of Santa Maria.
The goal is to attract visitors staying in Santa Maria-area hotels and motels, as well as local residents, to come to downtown on Saturday or Sundaymorning. They can get on the custom-designed trolley that seats 26 and is ADA accessible, and explore the Santa Maria Valley wine country, and then return to downtown at the end of the day.
The round-trip trolley excursions will operate initially on weekends only between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The trips begin at 11:00 am and end at approximately 7:00 pm. Cottonwood Canyon and Presqu’ile Wineries close at 5:00 pm and on the Trolley will not stop at those two locations on its last run.
The cost per person, not including wine tasting or food, is $10 in advance or $18 when purchasing tickets at the trolley stops. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Chamber of Commerce, Ca’Del Grevino Wine & Café Bar, Nagy Tasting Wine Tasting Room, Core Winery, Old Town Market, Costa de Oro Winery, and Cottonwood Canyon Winery.
This year will be the pilot program for the Wine Tasting Trolley and depending on how well it is received this summer will determine whether or not it will continue on next year.
