On Wednesday, June 21st and Thursday, June 22nd, Santa Maria residents and businesses are asked to minimize watering, including irrigating landscapes and gardens. The City of Santa Maria will continue working on a significant water main project near Thompson Way and McCoy Lane. During this work, the City will also reduce its watering at parks.
This important project requires separating the water production facility from the water distribution system in order to install a valve. That valve will be used to control water flow for future work on the City’s water blending station. While the water production facility is separated June 21st-22nd, water will be supplied to residents and businesses by the more than 18 million gallons of water stored in City reservoirs. The connection to the City’s water distribution system is expected to be restored within 24 to 30 hours, and then typical water use may resume.
Drivers are strongly recommended to obey all temporary construction traffic control signs, flaggers, and/or cones while traveling along McCoy Lane west of Skyway.
