The next meeting of The Valley Reads book club will be held Tuesday, June 27th from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Santa Maria Public Library’s Shepard Hall.
One Hundred Years of Solitude is a landmark 1967 novel by Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez that tells the multi-generational story of the Buendía family. Its patriarch, José Arcadio Buendía, founds the town of Macondo, in the metaphoric country of Colombia. Author Gabriel Garcia Marquez was the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982.
Each month a new book title is read and discussed along with complimentary coffee and snacks. To join The Valley Reads, please either come to the Santa Maria Public Library and sign-up with staff at the second floor information desk or call the Library at 925-0994 extension 8562.
The Library’s hours are 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Library is closed on Sunday. The Library is located at 421 S. McClelland Street.
