This is great preparedness training for residents, for all kinds of emergencies and disasters, ranging from fires to earthquake, and more.
A Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course is being offered by the City of Santa Maria Fire Department starting Tuesday, August 1st.
CERT volunteers are trained in a variety of emergency preparedness and response roles to assist their families, neighbors, and co-workers whenever there is an emergency or disaster.
Santa Maria Fire Chief Leonard Champion appreciates your assistance in helping to get the word out to the public on this opportunity:
“We all have a job to do to make our community safer,” said Chief Champion. We (the City) can’t do it alone. We need the public’s participation in this essential program.”
The City will have a booth at the Santa Barbara County Fair this week in the Convention Center building in the Northwest corner.
