Community members ages 50 and older are encouraged to “Catch the Wellness Wave” at the Active Aging Health Fair taking place on Saturday, July 29th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Elwin Mussell Center, 510 East Park Avenue.
This free health fair for adults will have a variety of information on programs and resources available from local health and wellness organizations to keep them active and healthy. Free health screenings will be available including: cardiac and stroke assessments, blood pressure and glucose measuring, vision screenings, and general fitness testing. There will also be fun fitness demonstrations of active programs offered at the Elwin Mussell Center.
Individuals feeling motivated to start the day with a brisk walk may join the fun an hour before the event and take a two-mile fitness walk beginning at 8:00 a.m. in front of the Elwin Mussell Center. There will be raffle prizes throughout the event and five extra raffle tickets will go to the early-bird walkers. The event is coordinated by the Active Aging Committee of the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department
