Exciting upcoming events at the Santa Maria Valley Discovery Museum!

Pyjama Drama is all about pirates, July 31-Aug 4! Campers will spend the week singing, dancing, and preparing a play to perform at the end of the week in this internationally acclaimed program. Discovery Storytellers camp is July 24-28, where kids get to write and illustrate their own book. Only a few spots left!! Read more about these fun camps in this Santa Maria Sun article.

Families can make a healthy snack and learn easy recipes with educators from Marian Regional Medical Center as part of our monthly FREE Nutrition Expedition program the second Sunday of every month!

We use paper every day, but do you know how it’s made? Join the Santa Maria Utilities department at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to make your own recycled paper! 

July 9: Super Sunday

Do your summer reading in style with a reading pointer! Come get crafty at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

A hermit crab who has grown too big for his shell searches for a new home. Come find out who he meets on his travels at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in Eric Carle’s “A House for a Hermit Crab”.

July 12: Preschool Patrol

 Create collage sea creatures at 11 a.m.

and 2:30 p.m.

July 13: Brain Builders

This week special guest Capt. Kylie Prachar of VAFB’s 1st Air and Space Test Squadron will talk to kids about a day in the life at the base, as well as lead a STEAM activity.

July 14: Passport Thursday 

Travel to Ecuador to learn about its native animals, as well as decorate a hermit crab shell at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Note: Starting in July, all afternoon weekly programs will begin at2:30 p.m.
