Theron ” Scotty” Kissee turned 101 on Tuesday celebrating the big milestone surrounded by friends and family at Santa Maria Terrace Senior Living. To give it a little bit of perspective, when Scotty was born, the first transcontinental phone call had just been made, and we were still 45 years away from launching the first human into space.
Scotty was born in Kissee Mills, MO ( near Branson). He married Edith, the love of his life in 1940 and resided in Somis before moving to Nipomo in 1979. To this day he still says that Nipomo has the best weather! For 25 years Scotty worked for FMC Corporation as a mechanic. His work frequently called him away where his travels include Goleta to Santa Paula. During his 25 years as a mechanic Scotty remained on call throughout his career. His family says that what they have learned the most from Scotty is to value every day that passes and to cherish time with family and friends.
Scotty has spent the last year Santa Maria Terrace and the staff has thoroughly enjoyed his positive attitude and wonderful smile. We are all grateful for everything day that we can spend with him and learn from his wisdom he has gathered over the last 101 years.
Happy Birthday Scotty! You are one in a Million!
