City of Santa Maria to Open Recruitment for the Position of Firefighter

The City of Santa Maria will be accepting applications for the position of Firefighter beginning Thursday, October 26th at 8:00 a.m., through Wednesday, November 1st at 12:00 p.m.  To be considered for the position, applicants must complete a City of Santa Maria Employment Application, meet the minimum qualifications, and submit required documentation.

The City uses the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center (FCTC), sponsored by the California Firefighters Joint Apprenticeship Committee (Cal-JAC), for the selection process. Applicants will be required to complete and receive a passing score on the (FCTC) written test and a Cal-JAC Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), before the application period closes on November 1st at noon.  More information regarding the tests may be found at: https://www.fctconline.org.

FCTC written scores and CPAT certificates dated prior to Monday, October 30, 2016, will not be accepted.

The job flyer will be posted on the City’s website on Monday, October 23, 2017.  All applications received during the application period will be considered and those applicants best meeting the needs of the department will be invited to an oral board interview.
