Dia de Los Muertos Festival October 29th
Celebrate the lives of passed loved ones at the Dia de Los Muertos Festival on Sunday, October 29th from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial Community Center, 313 West Tunnell Street.
This family friendly event is free and will have live entertainment, activities for youth, food and crafts vendors, and so much more for families to enjoy.
Be part of the celebration by creating a colorful altar (ofrenda) to honor a passed loved one, family member, friend, or celebrity in the Dia de Los Muertos tradition. The big beautiful offerings are the centerpieces of the festival and participants are encouraged to be as creative as possible. The deadline to register for an altar is Wednesday, October 24th.
There will also be a Catrines and Catrinas Contest! Dress up in the spirit of Day of the Dead. Awards will be given to the best catrin/catrina ensemble. Registrations will take place on-site.
Questions regarding registering an altar (ofrenda), entering the Catrin and Catrina Contest, being a vendor at the event, or simply attending this wonderful event may be directed to the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department at (805) 925-0951 extension 2260.
