Edwards Community Center’s New Gymnasium Floor
The City of Santa Maria is pleased to announce that its Edwards Community Center (809 Panther Drive) has a brand-new gym floor that covers approximately 8,000 square feet and is equipped with basketball and volleyball lines. The first event to take place on the new floor was a karate tournament held on Saturday, October 7th.
The Center hosts hundreds of community programs and events as well as private parties. The gym has housed recreational basketball and volleyball leagues, Special Olympics events, martial art competitions, youth recreational programs, and much more.
Edwards Community Center was developed and constructed by Ron Edwards in 2000 and was donated to the City of Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department in-lieu of park development fees. The Center is part of Sierra Vista Park, which is also the home of Kon baseball field. Edwards Community Center includes a multi-purpose room adjacent to a catering kitchen and a gymnasium with bleacher seating, suited for volleyball and basketball.
