SINGLE-PARENT STUDENTS AT HANCOCK TO RECEIVE FULLTHANKSGIVING MEAL

TUESDAY, NOV. 21, THANKS TO DONATIONS BY COLLEGE STAFF

Single-parent students will receive all the fixings to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving feast thanks to the generosity of Allan Hancock College faculty and staff. The college will host the ninth annual CARE Turkey Event on Tuesday, November 21, at the Santa Maria campus and the Lompoc Valley Center. Students will pick up their food outside the Administration building (bldg. B) from 10:00 a.m.-2 p.m. in Santa Maria and from 10:00 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Lompoc Valley Center outside of building 1.

This year, the CARE program will provide 75 single-parent students with all the trimmings to prepare a Thanksgiving meal for their families: a turkey, potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, whipped cream and more.

The students are all part of the college’s Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE) program that offers financial assistance, resources and support for single-parent students. Hancock is home to the first CARE center in California.
