Artists of the Golden West at the Los Alamos Library
Please join the Friends of the Los Alamos Branch Library along with the Santa Maria Public Library on Wednesday, December 6th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. for a free presentation of Artists of the Golden West: Higher than High, Wider than Wide, Deeper than Deep.
From early days to the present, indigenous artists as well as those from other regions of the nation have been inspired by the beauty and majesty of the golden west. A discussion of these artists’ documentation of western culture and the west’s unique landscapes, will be presented by a docent from the Community Speakers Program through the Santa Barbara Museum of Art Docent Council.
While at the Library, please view the current art exhibit, Current Conditions: the Weight of Atmosphere. This collection includes a stunning array of narrative landscape paintings by accomplished Santa Ynez artist Patricia Hedrick. Ms. Hedrick’s works include dynamic atmospheric landscapes, mostly from in and around Santa Barbara County. Believing that people are strongly connected to the nature and landscapes surrounding them, Ms. Hedrick tells her stories through paint and pastels that are descriptive of specific places, and reflect the climactic effects of clouds, wind, and fire. Do not miss this remarkable show, running through January 2018.
The Los Alamos Branch Library is located at 405 Helena Street in Los Alamos. The Library’s Hours are Tuesday to Thursday from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The branch library is operated by the City of Santa Maria Public Library.
